Gasps spread through the gate area. A man near the boarding line whispered, “That’s Marcus Thompson… he funds half the airline’s innovation program.” Another passenger muttered, “Unbelievable. They doubted his daughters?”
Mitchell’s confidence drained. Her voice faltered. “I… I didn’t realize…”
